So here it is...my very first post!
Life can really get you down if you let it. This world is tough and without Jesus by my side I am not sure how I would handle it. Don't get me wrong, I have a great life. I have a husband who absolutely loves me, a family who is so supportive and some pretty amazing friends that have been there through thick and thin. But man have there been some tough times just not knowing what the future holds.
Right now seems to be a somewhat of a tough time.
So a year ago, BJ and I packed up everything we owned a moved to Tennessee to be closer to my family. That way we wouldn't miss out on my 5 nephews and 2 nieces growing up! It has been an absolute joy to finally be a part of all their games, recitals, birthdays and just the every day events of their lives. I wouldn't trade the events of this past year for anything.
However, what would make this even more enjoyable was if I knew what I was supposed to be doing as far as my life goes.
In Charleston, I worked at the Charleston BCM and absolutely loved it. Not to mention being the youth interim at Fort Johnson Baptist. Both of those jobs were some amazing opportunities even though they were a bit stressful at times. It has been over a year and I still haven't found a job opportunity here that even begins to compare to either of those jobs. So I am still just waiting on the Lord to open up the doors and show me where He wants me.
I can say that even though it has been hard not being able to find the job for me, I have taken this past year to grow in other areas of my life.
Starting in January, I decided I was tired of being out of shape and tad overweight, so I started the Couch to 5k program. Since then I have run in four 5k races and 2 other races. I will be running in my fifth 5k this Saturday. This is coming from a girl who NEVER ran!! I HATED to run any type of distance at all. I would walk for miles but not run. But just the other day, I ran my personal best. I ran 3.1 miles in 30 minutes!! So just proof that with God by your side you can accomplish anything you set your mind to!!
Not only have I spent this year getting myself physically in shape but also spiritually. I have enjoyed having the time going to different Bible studies, being a part of an online Bible study and just reading other studies on my own. God has really used this time to help me spend more time with Him just learning who He really is and who He wants me to be!!
So again, I wouldn't trade this past year for anything even though it has been a tough one. It has shown me even more that God uses the hard times to help us grow into who He wants us to be.
So there you have it. My very first post. I promise that all my posts won't be so serious. I plan to post about many different things including funny moments that happen, some recipes that are absolutely to die for, and other random things that happen in my life!!
