Run or Dye 5K

If you have never run a race before, I would say a color run is definitely the best way to start.  I have run in two so far and am hoping to run another one in October.  They make running a race so much fun.  Both times, I have run it with my best friend which makes the race that much better!! Although the two experiences were completely different, they both were fun in their own way.

The first one we ran was back in March and it was my very first 5K race I had run.  We went as a big group including my best friend Jess and her husband Whitney, her mom and niece; and then our friend Seth and his daughter.  The race was downtown Chattanooga and man there were a lot of people there.  Every where you looked there was a crowd of people and man the music was pumping.  It really got things going.  Seth and Whitney ran together and we ran with the two girls.  They definitely made it a whole lot of fun.  They would take off running and we would have to catch up with them.  Then as soon as we would catch up to them, they would start walking because they were tired.  Needless to say, it definitely helped me out since it was my first 5K and I wasn't used to running that far.  We even made sure to spend extra time at the color stations to make sure they got a lot of color on them.  We didn't care as much about ourselves and therefore didn't get quite as colorful at this race!!

Today, it was just me and Jess.  The race was at Camp Jordan.  When we arrived at the race, we were very surprised to see that it wasn't all that crowded and that there was even a soccer tournament going on at the same time.  The crowd seemed pretty excited but it was nothing compared to the one downtown!  To top it off, Jess had just run a half marathon the week before and I was a bit out of shape because I haven't been running as much due to the hot and humid weather.  We both could tell that we were not at the top of our game.  Not to mention, the humidity.  The air was sooo thick, it definitely made it harder to run.  We were both glad that this wasn't a timed race and we could slow our pace down just a bit.  The fun part about this race was this was the first race that just me and Jess ran in and actually ran together.  We had run one race before but since I am newer to this whole running thing, my pace or endurance isn't quite as good as hers!! We have no idea how long it actually took us to run the race all we know is that we had a good time and came home way more COLORFUL!!

So like I said before, if you have never run a race before, you need to sign up to run a color race!! If you live in Cleveland, there is one coming in October!! Hope to see you there!

And on another note....

Happy Anniversary!!

Today my parents celebrate 45 years of marriage!! I'm so glad God allowed me to grow up in a home with two parents who love each other so much and who are committed to one another no matter what life throws their way! They have been such a great example to me and my siblings on what it means to be in a lifelong marriage.  In today's world, it is so rare to say that your parents are still together and I am so blessed to be able to say that.  So Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!!
